LITORAL TV | The number of foreign tourists in Romanian is on the rise, and when it comes to the Romanian Black Sea resorts there is no doubt that the resort Mamaia is preferred by foreign tourists. More than 70% of hotel rooms sold to foreigners during the summer season at the Black Sea are situated in the Mamaia resort. A study based on selected interviews mentioned in local media indicates that foreigners prefer a high hotel standard, plenty of beach activities and a comprehensive night life to lower prices and more peaceful resorts. The short access to a big city like Constanta is also a factor when selecting Mamaia for these tourists.
Foreigners visisting Mamaia include above all Germans, then Italians, Dutch and Belgian tourists, French visitors, Brits and Russians. The number of Polish tourists in Romania is increasing rapidly, also in Mamaia. Romanian tourists in Mamaia are in general persons with a high income. while the Romanian middle class prefer resorts like Eforie Nord and Venus or Saturn. The fact that many other Romanian resorts are updated and offer similar activites like Mamaia seems to have no impact on the number of foreign tourists so far, apart from some more foreign tourists in the resorts of Mamaia Nord Navodari and Neptun.
