500,000 Euro is cashed from ticket sales a year by the Palace of Parliament. A symbol of the golden age of communism, the construction was visited by over 140,000 people last year, most of them foreigners.
The Palace of Parliament is visited by about 400 tourists every day as this is the main tourist attraction of the capital.
No less than 20,000 people worked night and day on the building, 700 architects were involved in the project and tons of construction materials were used: 700 tons of steel and bronze, one million cubic meters of marble and 900,000 cubic meters of wood.
Authorities expect ticket sales to be even higher this year, because there have been 11% more tourists in the capital in the first half of the year than last year.
